Monday hits different when you know a German Shepherd with a lanyard is already three meetings ahead of you.
The working animal is a special category of creature, not because they were asked to show up, but because they committed. Fully, completely, with their whole chest. The cat at the self-checkout didn't have to be there. The capybara at the desk didn't send in a resume. The horse didn't apply for the position. And yet there they are, present and accounted for, exuding a level of professional energy that makes most human employees look like they're still in the parking lot eating a breakfast sandwich.

You know what makes these animals so genuinely inspiring? They bring zero cynicism to the job. No "is it Friday yet." No quietly browsing other opportunities while pretending to take notes. No sighing heavily every time a new task comes in. A dog with a badge is a dog who has found their purpose, and that purpose is to be the best-dressed, most enthusiastic employee in the building, and they will not be taking questions.

The cats, of course, operate differently. A working cat doesn't need your approval or your performance metrics. A working cat has assessed the situation, determined that their presence is required, and showed up on their own terms, glasses on, expression unreadable, completely in charge of a department nobody knew needed managing. The self-checkout cat didn't wait to be assigned. The self-checkout cat saw a gap in the workforce and filled it.
And then there are the animals in hard hats and vests, a category so pure, so wholesome, so deeply committed to the bit that it should honestly be its own genre of content. A cat in a construction helmet is not just cute. A cat in a construction helmet is a professional with places to be and a project timeline to meet, and you will treat them accordingly.

The workday is long. The tasks are many. But somewhere in this collection is a police cat, a service dog finding comfort in a stuffed pig after a long shift, and a monkey who looks like he's been in corporate longer than you've been alive.
Clock in. These animals already did.
